I have never seen a mental health practitioner. What will this be like?
FAQs
What should I do before my first appointment?
Prior to your initial visit, Dr. Bradfute will send you forms to complete. These include office policies, privacy disclosures, and questionnaires about your health and medical history. You will be asked to periodically update some of these questionnaires during your treatment. Completing these forms in advance allows Dr. Bradfute to dedicate more time to discussing your story, objectives, and aspirations. It's very helpful to recall and note any psychiatric medications you've previously taken, including reasons for discontinuation, to avoid re-prescribing ineffective treatments. Dr. Bradfute will ask for insurance information to be able to add what medications are covered by your insurance to our discussion.
What can I expect during our sessions?
You will be seen, heard, and listened to with deep attention.
Inclusion as an equal partner in treatment decisions.
An environment where hope, humor, and joy can be found in the complexity of the human experience.
Dr. Bradfute focuses on understanding that traumatic events have occurred without delving into detailed narratives, respecting your boundaries at all times. Kindness and respect are foundational to the treatment approach.
How often will we meet?
The frequency of sessions is tailored to your specific needs, determined collaboratively. Typically, sessions are more frequent initially and become less so as we establish an effective treatment regimen.
What age group does Dr. Bradfute treat?
Individuals aged 18 and older.
Does Dr. Bradfute prescribe controlled substances?
Dr. Bradfute prescribes controlled substances if they are the best medication for your diagnosis and symptoms.
Can I see Dr. Bradfute if she is not an in-network provider with my insurance?
Dr. Bradfute is not in-network with any insurance carriers. However, many clients can seek reimbursement through out-of-network benefits. A “super-bill” can be provided upon request for insurance submission. Please check with your insurance for potential out-of-network coverage.
